Double K's Take: 2015 NBA Draft – Los Angeles Lakers...

Los Angeles Lakers (21-61, 5th in Pacific Division, 14th in the Western Conference)

Last season wasn’t exactly a spectacular one for the Lakers. They had their top star (Bryant) out for most of the season. They had they young new star (Randle) go out for the year early and not really get a chance to watch him develop. The team that Byron Scott and the boys did put out there was a joke of a team compared to the championship caliber teams of the Lakers past. So for that very reason the Lakers ended up with 2 1st round picks and chose to fill the holes that they had with these two young talented gentlemen…

R1 (2) PG/SG D’Angelo Russell (Ohio State Buckeyes, 6’5” 180lbs): When the Lakers took Russell at #2 a lot of the basketball world asked… What the heck are you doing?? They felt the Lakers should have went after one of the many big men available in the draft. I felt that Russell was the smart pick because they now have a dynamic playmaker opposite Kobe that can feed him and Randle to make the Lakers way more effective on the offensive side of the ball…

R2 (27) PF Larry Nance (Wyoming Cowboys, 6’9” 235lbs): This pick seemed like one that was more of a depth pick than and instant impact player. Nance is a long and athletic forward that can stretch the floor. He has a lot to learn and needs to develop a low post game but I think he has time to develop into a solid player. When I look at him I think Kurt Rambis the Lakers great who was extremely scrappy and played hard with some of the best players of his time…
